Cooperation Education Culture - Grand Hospice

Through its literary, cultural and educational activities, CEC has been leading the way since 1977, in a unique and original way, in denouncing and deciphering stereotypical Western images of Africa, its peoples and Afro-descendants.

Thanks to the various events, exhibitions and educational tools it has developed, CEC highlights in particular the mechanisms of Belgian colonial propaganda and image creation, which still influence mental representations of Africa, its populations and diasporas, and continue to engender attitudes of withdrawal, indifference and discrimination.

At the heart of CEC's approach is the promotion of the work of artists from Africa, the Caribbean and the diasporas, and the highlighting of their view of representations.
