Studio - Léa Mayer

Léa MayerGrand Hospice

Léa Mayer assemble des souvenirs, des trajets, des œuvres d’art.

She collects fragments and then incorporates images of her own creation. Mental images, composite images, missing images.
In this way, we are given a glimpse of the range of relationships that can link, for example, a landscape to its description. Our gaze circulates and becomes involved. For it's up to us to go back and forth, to study, to retrace the thread, caught as we are between objects of discourse and their formal studies.
But Léa Mayer also holds together what, when put together, resembles the imaginary. Observations, lists and stories raise the question of an in-between where text becomes image and image becomes play. So, just as rules scaffold actions, we enjoy confusing doorstops with sculptures, recomposing a story written in rebus form, and looking back over a lifetime by scanning the stars drawn on the walls of a cafeteria.
